Job Description
Ascertia is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, design, and optimize databases for our .NET and cloud-based applications. We are building best-in-class platforms engineered to handle millions of transactions with high scalability and availability. The ideal candidate will be a crucial part of ensuring our products are optimized for peak performance and reliability. This is a key role for a proactive, results-driven professional with a strong analytical approach to problem-solving. A sharp eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under deadlines are essential for success in this role.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Administer, maintain, and support MS SQL Server databases in various environments, including development, staging, and production.
  • Proactively identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks, using advanced monitoring and profiling tools to ensure optimal database health and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement efficient database schemas, write and optimize complex queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Enforce and maintain database security policies and procedures, including user access management, data encryption, and regular security audits.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.

Job Specification

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience as a Database Administrator for web and distributed applications.
  • Expert-level knowledge of MS SQL Server deployments, installations, and configurations.
  • Strong command of SQL/T-SQL for query writing, performance tuning, and development of stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Deep understanding of SQL Server architecture and features, including indexing, partitioning, replication, and file grouping.
  • Proficiency in advanced performance monitoring and debugging tools such as SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, and Dynamic Management Views (DMVs).
  • Experience of tools such as Foglight, Blitz, etc. will be a plus.
  • Solid grasp of database concepts like connection pooling, locking, transaction isolation levels, and deadlock resolution.
  • Experience with .NET based applications and their database management requirements.
  • Good understanding of Object-Relational Mappers (ORMs) and how they interact with databases.
  • Familiarity with web application architecture and the HTTP protocol.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach to work.
